Can varicose veins in women be treated through cosmetic procedures?

Varicose veins are caused by the relaxation of the valves of the veins in the foot, as these veins in the human body need double work in order to pump blood against gravity and in the direction of the heart. Therefore, in the event of any weakness or relaxation in the valves in them, the blood filters in the opposite direction, causing its accumulation and the appearance of varicose veins.

Among the factors that increase the likelihood of this occurring in women:

Aging

The softness of the veins generally decreases with age, causing them to expand, and the valves in the veins may become weaker, allowing the blood that should flow to the heart to go backwards, and thus blood collects in the veins, which leads to their widening and the formation of varicose veins.

In general, the problem of varicose veins begins to appear in women, usually between 30 – 70 years, and the risk of developing it increases with age.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy, the blood volume in the woman’s body increases, and her weight and heaviness on the feet increases due to the presence of the fetus in the womb, which increases pressure on the pelvic area and this causes widening of the veins in the legs.

Varicose veins that develop during pregnancy usually improve without any medical treatment within three months after delivery.

Heredity

Heredity plays a major role in the occurrence of most cases of disease in the body, and the genetic factors in women are one of the most important reasons for the emergence of the problem of varicose veins in them, meaning that if the mother suffers from the problem of varicose veins, the chance of infection of the children becomes greater.

Overweight

Suffering from obesity and being overweight leads to increased pressure on the veins of the feet, which causes the valves to relax over time, which causes varicose veins.

Standing for long periods

Many women, especially mothers, have to stand continuously for long periods of time during the day, and this leads to the blood flow being less efficient when staying in the same position for a long time.

Varicose veins treatment for women

Varicose veins in women is a problem that can reappear and recur in more than one area of the body, but this does not mean that a woman should not resort to treatment if this problem appears, as the treatment helps reduce symptoms if they appear and protects against complications in the future.

It is possible for women to follow some simple procedures that help in treating the problem of varicose veins and its non-development, namely:

Elevate the feet above the level of the heart when sitting.

Use compression stockings.

Reducing the periods of sitting with the feet lowered or standing.

Treatment of varicose veins in women with cosmetic procedures

There are three different methods for cosmetic treatment of varicose veins in women.

  • The first is a surgical operation in which the damaged veins are removed from the leg, and it is for the treatment of advanced cases of varicose veins.
  • The second technique is laser varicose removal, which is preferred because it is non-surgical and its results are good and guaranteed. Lasers are used to treat varicose veins by using a catheter with a laser beam emitter at the end, which is shed on the place to be treated.
  • Recently, the technique of varicose vein removal by injection has appeared. This method relies on injecting a substance that helps the veins to harden. Compressive bands are used during and after the injection, which helps to stick the walls of the vessels together and then completely atrophy. This technique does not require any kind of anesthesia, and the person can leave the center immediately after the procedure.
